TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
My goal in teaching is simple: to have my students understand that philosophy impacts not only their chosen majors but the way that they live their everyday lives. Philosophy is often portrayed as an esoteric study that has little practical implication for life outside of the university. However, studies show that philosophy students do well on a range of standardized tests and have higher mid-career salaries compared to other disciplines in the Humanities. Philosophy, and the critical thinking it requires, has enriched my life and my aim is to convey philosophy’s value to student’s lives outside of the classroom.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
To date, I have taught 35 classes (29 in-person and 6 online) with full teaching responsibilities at 7 different institutions. After earning my MA from Virginia Tech, I accepted a one-year instructorship at Virginia Tech and nearby Radford University where I cumulatively taught a full course load with three different preps (Intro Phil, Intro Ethics, and Intro Logic). The following year I taught another full course load with three different preps at two community colleges in the Lone Star College System in Houston, TX as an adjunct professor. After this, I came to UMass and subsequently TA-ed a few classes, for the first time, and taught several of my own Medical Ethics courses. While finishing my dissertation, I taught Business Ethics over several semesters at High Point University in High Point, NC., and now I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University where I teach a variety of courses including Problems of Philosophy (i.e. Intro Phil), Knowledge and Reality (i.e. Intro Epist), and upper-division courses in Epistemology and the Philosophy of Science. My teaching portfolio contains a summary of my teaching evaluations to date.
